The focus of Mark Roelke’s practice is taxpayer representation before the IRS, Department of Justice Tax Division and the California Franchise Tax Board. He began his tax career as a law clerk to the Honorable Marvin F. Peterson, Special Trial Judge, United States Tax Court. Prior to co-founding Abkin Law, Mark was an Assistant Public Defender for Solano County, where he tried over 50 felony criminal cases. As a member of Abkin Law PLC, Mark assists clients in audits and litigation with both the Internal Revenue Service and the Franchise Tax Board.
Mark has helped clients obtain relief from millions of dollars of federal tax liabilities with Offers in Compromise. He has assisted clients in reaching agreement with federal and state authorities to obtain reasonable installment payment plans. Mark has also helped clients defer collection enforcement by working to remove levies, or convincing tax authorities to refrain from levying, on client accounts.
With an advanced degree in taxation and extensive criminal trial experience, Mark is uniquely qualified to assist clients who are undergoing criminal tax investigations.
Mark has assisted clients with disclosures under the various IRS Voluntary Disclosure Programs and Streamlined Foreign/Domestic Offshore Procedures.
